Abstrakt | In the Czech Republic natural sciences lead by chemistry, physics, and biology had been neglected since the Velvet Revolution till the time, several years ago, when people from a variety of institutions started to motivate pupils and students via different popularisation activities. Nowadays we experiencing Renaissance of natural sciences not only because of those eager people but also because of so-called periodical changes in mood of the Czech society and new developments in natural sciences, which seems to be rather motivating for members of young generation in the Czech Republic and in the rest of Europe. However, in spite of the fact that there exist numerous projects presenting the beauties of natural sciences, most of them are unfortunately just based on short-time activities or activities supporting individual competitiveness at advanced knowledge level. With respect to these established conditions, project STM-MORAVA is a unique one. This research educational project covers the whole educational process from primary school pupils up to the University students. At the same time it involves both individual and collective activities with competitive background, which is not aimed only on talented students. Pupils from primary and secondary schools were involved in this project as the most influential group because inadequate teacher or negative experience with chemistry, biology or physics has not spoilt their view on natural sciences. For the purpose of the project there were established groups – pupils’ “scientific clubs” with meetings once a week and then announced topics fundamentally fulfilling the request, expressed in the initial questionnaires, to work on a serious scientific problem. This condition was met by all of the both topics, “Water, Milk, and Other Beverages” and “Energy Governs the World”, in the school years 2006/2007 and 2007/2008. Pupils were given exercise books and teachers textbooks involving suggested experiments. These materials were prepared purposely with the aim to make the preparation for the meetings easier for teachers and enjoyable for pupils. In these two years there were involved up 250 pupils who not only joined the established scientific clubs but who also participated at the final conference. This year we announced a new topic, also meeting the above-mentioned criteria, entitled “Man and Nutrition”. As we have realised that the materials (textbooks and exercise books) are crucial for a high effectiveness of these meetings also this year this year they were prepared.
